The three Mobile Maternity Units built by Turmaks for the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health, with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), were handed over in a ceremony the other day. These units, delivered to the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health by Japanese Ambassador Mizukoshi Hideaki on May 6th, are considered a vital step in increasing healthcare accessibility, particularly in the Uva, Central, and Southern provinces.

The mobile birth units aim to provide healthcare services to women at risk, especially during natural disasters or emergencies. The project also aims to improve health literacy among the local population.

The project, prepared by Turmaks with United Nations support to enhance the quality of healthcare services in the region and provide birth services to women in hard-to-reach areas, was completed and launched recently.

In Turmaks’ successful project in Sri Lanka, DIMO, the local representative of Tata Motors, the manufacturer of the mobile units, played a crucial role and was instrumental in transporting the mobile Maternity units to the field.
